There are 16 members of staff to help you with: making appointments, repeat prescriptions, general enquiries, taking messages, giving pathology results, arranging transport etc.
PRACTICE NURSES
All the practice nurses are nursing sisters (SRN) and undertake the following:
• Blood tests, which must be taken before 12 noon to enable samples to go to the hospital pathology department that afternoon.
• Family planning, asthma checks, routine medical screening, adult immunisations, ear syringing, wound dressing, removal of stitches, weight loss advice etc.
MIDWIFERY
The surgery is able to refer patients to two hospitals for midwifery services. They are:
Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow;
St John's Hospital, Chelmsford (including William Julian Courtauld Hospital, Braintree).
Patients may use the hospital of their choice.
A group of midwives look after patients in the area and have weekly clinics and classes at the Dunmow Clinic. Patients can contact them at the clinic. Also based at the clinic are the health
visitors, who will be able to assist and advise patients with the care of their children, up to age of five years.
VIOLENT AND ABUSIVE PATIENTS
The surgery has a policy of "zero tolerance" to violent, aggressive or abusive behaviour, whether physical or verbal, towards our staff.
Patients who are persistently violent or abusive may be asked to register at another surgery.
